OUR COMPANY
New Zealand Honeyco is New Zealand’s largest, single producer of specialty honeys. It was formed in 2007 from a desire to give people the opportunity to experience and taste, the goodness of our unique New Zealand South Island Honey. The key stakeholders are themselves beekeepers who have been producing honey for over 50 years and packing specialty honeys for over 25 years.
Our company has received a number of prestigious awards including – The Deloittes Fast 50 Award for Fastest Growing Company in New Zealand 2009, Fastest Growing Company in Southern Region 2010, Fastest Growing Primary Sector Business in New Zealand. New Zealand Export Marketing Award 2010.
Our unique brand position is based upon the scientifically proven and documented, health benefits specific to our honeys. We are passionate about our products and have direct involvement from the hive to the shelf, to ensure we can preserve the nutritional qualities and flavour of the raw honey that we harvest.
Our Quality
New Zealand Honeyco honey is gathered and packed without the addition of any additives. Most of our honeys are harvested in the South Island from alpine pastures, high country mountains, and ancient hardwood rain forests that are designated World Heritage sites, protected from all commercial activities apart from beekeeping. The unique climate and topography of Southern New Zealand allows us to produce some of the purest mono-floral honeys in the world, many of which are unique to New Zealand.
We manage all the stages of harvesting and processing honey, and can trace each batch that we pack all the way back to the hives. We site all our hives in special habitats where predominately one type of plant is in flower at a time, and our skilled beekeepers harvest the honey before other flower sources become available. This keeps the honeys as pure as possible with flavours of amazing depth and taste. We test our honeys to ensure that the purity can be guaranteed.
Our Sustainability
We actively involve our beekeepers in sustainable beekeeping practices. We maintain our hives without antibiotics. This industry is unique in that far more is put back to the environment than is taken away. Our workers (the bees) pollinate the flowers of fruit, plants and pasture crops, creating seed banks. Without this process the reproduction of our pasture and unique flora and fauna could never occur. It is an intricate part of the evolution and sustainability of our planet. We plan with our New Zealand Conservation Representatives’ strategic placement of our hives to help enhance the reproduction and growth of these significant World Heritage areas.

Our Research
We work closely with New Zealand Universities and Research Institutions to understand the unique health properties of each of our honeys. Two of our honeys; Beech Forest Honeydew and Thyme, have some of the highest antioxidant and pre-biotic ratings of any honey tested worldwide. This research is ongoing as we continue to investigate across our range for more specific health benefits.
“We want our customers to be able to experience genuine health benefits from eating our honey with all the flavour and goodness that is present straight from the hive.”
